Kluever LLC, a boutique Chicago-based litigation law firm is seeking a highly skilled and energetic Bankruptcy Attorney to join our team. Our firm represents clients throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. All inquiries will remain confidential. The position will be mostly remote, with on-site meetings at our downtown office monthly. This position runs in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and strict standards. **** Background Check: All firm employees are required to pass comprehensive background checks. Schedule : Work hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-6:00pm, but we are willing to accommodate and provide reasonable flexibility. Location: 200 N. LaSalle St., Suite 1880, Chicago, IL 60601 Benefits: Compensation: Base salary range $80,000 - $130,000 based on experience. Responsibilities: Department Management – Bankruptcy workload management and process improvement. System Updates – Working various case files, communication with clients, and processing documents to and from clients, courts, and opposing counsel. Document Review – Review and proofread documents to ensure completeness, sufficiency, and accuracy; approve documents submission to the court, opposing counsel or client. Court Attendance – Attend court to represent the firm’s clients in a manner befitting the profession (prepared, timely, professional attire, and conduct is appropriate) Escalations - Identify and escalate unusual or complex issues to supervising attorneys and clients. Internal and External Communication – Providing clear, professional, and relevant communications to clients, vendors, and colleagues via case management systems, phone, and email. Required Qualifications: Licensing: Must be licensed to practice law in Illinois with no disciplinary history in any jurisdiction; being licensed in other jurisdictions is a plus. Legal Knowledge: An understanding of Illinois Bankruptcy Law, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and the Illinois Code of Civil Procedure, the Supreme Court Rules. Illinois and/or Wisconsin Mortgage Foreclosure Law, and/or Wisconsin Bankruptcy law is a plus Experience: Minimum of 3 years full-time experience as a practicing Bankruptcy attorney at a multi-attorney law firm or government agency required. Less experience may be considered for exceptional candidates. Caseload Management: Prime candidates will be responsible for a caseload involving: proactive file and timeline management; daily/weekly court appearances; legal research; drafting pleadings/motions/briefs/regular client communications; staff oversight; and identifying and deploying creative "out of the box" resolutions as necessary. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients, colleagues, staff, and opposing counsel along with being able to deescalate and resolve issues as they arise. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and an ability to consistently meet deadlines. Process Oriented: Must be process-oriented with attention to detail and have a strong work ethic.
