Position Overview CASE seeks a Dec 15 Written By Liz Tarquin Position Overview CASE seeks a Fisheries Crime and Trade Analyst to support an upcoming requirement for NOAA’s Office of Law Enforcement (OLE). This role focuses on conducting risk assessments, analyzing trade and vessel activity, and providing actionable insights to prioritize enforcement resources in combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing in the Pacific region. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on the global fight against IUU fishing. You’ll work with a dynamic team at the forefront of fisheries enforcement, helping to safeguard marine resources and promote sustainable practices. Domestic and international travel may be required to participate in workshops, meetings, and training events. Key Responsibilities Conduct risk assessments on fish products and foreign fishing vessels entering U.S. markets. Analyze intelligence reports, business transactions, and trade data to identify illegal activities. Develop and implement analytical tools (e.g., GIS, Link Analysis) to identify patterns and trends. Collaborate with federal, state, and international agencies to share information and strengthen enforcement efforts. Prepare reports, briefings, and recommendations for OLE leadership. Use software tools to create visuals such as maps and diagrams highlighting trends in IUU fishing activities. Qualifications Bachelor’s (BS), Master’s (MS), or Doctorate (PhD). At least four years of professional experience in trade analysis, intelligence, or a related area. Familiarity with illegal fishing methods, vessel types, and targeted species. Proficiency with analytical tools such as Esri ArcGIS, Excel, Python, R, and database management systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance is required. Work Schedule And Requirements This is a full time role, fully remote, working with the NOAA OLE. Domestic and international travel may be required to participate in workshops, meetings, and training events.
