The NDT Specialist I is a hands-on position, reporting to the Quality Manager, and will be an integral Quality team member. The technician will help maximize production output, drive continuous manufacturing process improvements, assist with new product introductions, and assure the effective utilization of equipment and materials while maintaining safety, quality, cost and on-time delivery expectations.

Location: Based out of Cheshire, CT, Precision Components

Reports to: Supervisor, Quality

Shift: 1st shift or 2nd shift

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and process various components for FPI and/or MPI.
  • Perform duties of NDT Level I, working under the direction of the NDT Level II or NDT Level III.
  • Process parts and maintain all applicable specifications, calibrations and daily requirements.
  • Perform cleaning operations within a class 10K clean room environment.
  • Maintain gage calibration records and interface with employees and outside calibration services as needed and directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Document in-process inspections and work with inspection department to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Communicate with co-workers, colleagues and supervisors to receive instructions and/or guidance and coordinate activities.
  • Organize and maintain daily requirements.
  • Must be able to work independently and efficiently to meet customer requirements.
  • Assist in the interpretation of quality data, conduct research on product defects, and recommend modification in process requirements where such appear to be warranted.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
  • 5-10% domestic travel required.
  • Maintain gauge crib and perform miscellaneous administrative tasks.
  • Learn different job functions to be cross trained into other areas.
  • Read and understand work instructions such as Op Sheets, engine manuals, etc.

Physical Demands :

  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform physical duties and be able to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
  • Must have visual acuity enough to be able to read machine dials, gages, op sheets and precision measuring equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English at a functional level.
  • Must have NDT background.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NDT background within the Aerospace industry.
