The Patient Service Representative (PSR) position is staffed throughout all St Charles Health System ambulatory outpatient service lines and specialties, located throughout the Central Oregon tri-county area. The Patient Service Representative acts as liaison between patients and the professional staff by facilitating clerical and reception responsibilities and assisting in administrative tasks. PSRs collaborate with clinical staff to ensure we are providing our community with comprehensive and compassionate health care. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers. Essential functions include patient scheduling, pre-arrival and financial clearance, patient registration, clinic daily operations, and customer service. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, using electronic health systems, performing real time eligibility for insurance benefits, recording patient demographics and billing information, processing payments, maintaining departmental files and lists, assisting with electronic and telephone messages, document management, and providing excellent customer service. The role supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization, facilitates interpretive services, supports Lean principles, maintains a safe environment, and complies with all applicable laws and policies. Additional duties may be assigned. Education required is a high school diploma or GED. Ability to travel to business functions and all St. Charles Health System worksites is required. Preferred experience includes one year of clerical support in healthcare or related experience and basic medical terminology. The position requires strong communication, organizational, mathematical, and computer skills, and the ability to work as part of a care team. Physical requirements and exposure risks are minimal. The schedule is 40 hours per week with variable shifts in the United States of America.
