Genie Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN Manager, Labor and Delivery Manager for a travel nursing job in Colton, California.

Position : Unit Manager – Labor & Delivery (Acute Care)

Shift : Varies days/evenings, 36 hrs/week

Role Overview

• Oversees day-to-day operations of a single patient care unit within a service line, with 24-hour responsibility for staff and unit performance.
• Direct management of Assistant Unit Managers, RNs, and support staff in Labor & Delivery.
• Reports to a Clinical Director II & Associate Chief Nursing Officer.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Staffing – Supervise, evaluate, discipline, hire/fire, schedule staff; ensure proper daily staffing; approve time off.
2. Patient Care Oversight – Assign cases based on skills/competencies, monitor care quality, conduct clinical rounds.
3. Policy & Compliance – Develop/implement departmental policies, ensure regulatory & accreditation compliance.
4. Budget Management – Prepare/manage budgets, control overtime, monitor resources.
5. Quality & Satisfaction – Manage patient satisfaction programs, employee engagement, and risk management.
6. Education & Competency – Oversee staff education, orientation, skills training, and maintain licensure/certifications.
7. Performance Improvement – Develop benchmarks, monitor data, implement improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Experience :
  • 4+ years nursing experience (5+ preferred)
  • 2+ years supervisory experience in acute care
  • Recent NICU experience a plus

  • 1+ year recent/current supervisor/interim L&D experience required

     

• Education : MSN or BSN + MA in Healthcare Administration required
• Certifications : BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, AWHONN

• Licensure : California RN license (active)
