SUMMARY

The Valet Attendant, reporting to the Valet Manager, is responsible for driving, parking, and retrieving customer cars in a safe and courteous manner and assisting customers in and out of their vehicle. Valet Attendants play a crucial role in making sure all customers are given a professional, courteous and timely valet service, ensuring the proper collection of fees, while complying with department rules and regulations. The Attendant also is responsible for working the Landside Transportation booth, which assists passengers in obtaining taxi and shuttle services to local destinations. Enforce the rules and regulations governing Ground Transportation services. The Attendant may work a designated shift, floating or rotating shift. The position provides 24/7 coverage.

  4. Maintain a neat, clean appearance, on arrival and remain in complete uniform before and during scheduled shifts.

  6. Welcome customers and put them at ease when taking possession of their vehicle.
  7. Observe all traffic laws and safe driving practices.
  8. Must be a safe, courteous, and a defensive driver
  9. Safety conscience while moving and parking vehicles around employees, customers, and the public.
  10. To know and understand company policy and procedures
  11. Learn and follow routines that are extremely repetitive by design
  12. Learn and follow directions, execute procedures and routines without deviating from training.
  13. Understand and follow trained routines without direct supervision
  14. Works well unsupervised in a highly structured environment for tracking purposes
  15. Focus on the job and not be distracted
  16. General knowledge of the Charleston area, interstates, streets, landmarks, and Great Restaurants.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned to meet overall objectives of the position and the department in support of the CCAA mission

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

The position requires a thorough knowledge CCAA LSO parking regulations and fee structures for a variety of users. The incumbent must be able to use the computerized equipment for determining, collecting, and recording fee collection. The Attendant should have a basic knowledge of directions and destinations to assist users in navigating their way from the airport environment. General math and some accounting skills (counting, add, subtract, multiply and divide). Know and understand the rules and regulations of the road. Driving skills must mimic good qualities of a safe, courteous, and defensive driver. Ability to drive a manual transmission is a plus, but NOT required. Must be able to display all aspects of “Customer Service.” General knowledge of Airport and its roadways.

  • Ability to scan hang tags into android phone and quickly enter information accurately, that is verbally communicated by customer.
  • Ability to explain CCAA parking fees or handle related disputes with customers who may be unfamiliar with CCAA Valet Services fee structure or regulations.
  • Ability to follow directions and execute procedures without deviation from trained routine

  • Ability to report a theft from a fellow employee to a Supervisor or Manager.
  • Ability to report to management immediately if; license has been suspended or revoked.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The position requires six months related experience, training or combination of education and experience; a high school diploma or GED is required. Prior valet driving experience is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Requires a valid driver’s license that must be maintained in good standards during employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires the ability to function indoor in an office environment and outdoors engaged in a booth or extending standing while working at the valet booth. Work is of a sedentary nature while working in the booth and one of standing and minor walking when working the valet booth. Requires ambulatory ability to move to different work locations and to bend, stoop, climb, and reach. Requires arm, hand, and finger dexterity to and use a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Requires the ability to wear a variety of protective equipment and work in areas with temperature variations. Requires near and far visual acuity to observe moving vehicles and people read written materials. Requires auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone, including the ability to project voice in noisy work settings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed indoors and outdoors where some safety considerations exist from proximity to moving cars and trucks and environmental considerations.
